ABOUT

Jan Tillmanns
My journey into the world of film began during my Mechatronics studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt. I taught myself photography, which has been a significant influence on my creative development.
Through an internship at the film distributor MBF and my involvement in numerous student films and smaller music videos, I was able to deepen my passion for filmmaking. Internships on series productions further expanded my understanding, leading me to pursue a degree in Time-Based Media in Mainz.
During my studies, I focused intensively on animation and games. An internship at Deck13 provided exciting insights into the gaming industry and added valuable practical experience to my skill set.
In photography, I have explored a wide range of genres and styles, including portrait, landscape, architecture, event, and concert photography. In film, I am primarily active in the lighting department, working with a variety of techniques ranging from HMI and tungsten lighting to modern LED solutions and DMX control systems. Additionally, I have experience in the camera department, particularly in grip and rigging, enabling me to support various aspects of film production.
In the gaming field, I have worked on both AA and indie projects and participated in several Game Jams.
You can explore my previous projects in more detail here on my website. I warmly invite you to take a closer look at my work.
I hope you enjoy discovering it!
